Veteran Merchant Dies of Stroke

Summoned After Illness of Only One Week

This community was shocked and deeply concerned a week and a half ago when it was learned that Frank Leibrock had suffered a stroke of paralysis on the left side. It was sincerely hoped that he would soon recover his usual good health and for a while his recovery was fully expected.

Last Friday night, however, his condition took a turn for the worse and Saturday afternoon at five o’clock he passed to the other world.

Frank G. Leibrock, the son of Charles and Elizabeth (Christ) Leibrock was born January 19, 1860 and passed away Saturday, August 10th at the age of sixty-nine years, six months and twenty-two days.

October 2, 1880, he was united in marriage with Miss Louise Taake. To this union four children were born. They are Roy, of Elkader; Fred, of Milwaukee; Mrs. Ruby Katschkowsky and Mrs. Grace Morse, both of Elkader.

Of the original family there remain to mourn his loss a sister, Mrs. Felix Schmidt, of Bristol, Colo., and a brother, Charles L., of Los Angeles, Calif. Two sisters, Miss Elizabeth Leibrock, of Elkader, and Mrs. Hattie Hagensick, of Milwaukee, preceding him in death. He is further survived by the widow, the four children and four grandchildren, Laurine, Robert Karl and Kathryn Katschkowsky of Elkader, and William Edward Leibrock of Milwaukee.

In the passing of Mr. Leibrock loses one of its oldest native born sons, one of its oldest merchants and one of its best public spirited citizens and the family in their grief have only the memory of one whose devoted unselfish loyalty will always remain in their minds and hearts as a blessing and a benediction.

None knew him but to love him.
None named him but to praise.

The funeral for F.G. Leibrock who died Saturday was held here today from the Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was laid to rest in the East Side Cemetery. Mr. Leibrock was a pioneer merchant of Elkader having been in the drygoods business with his father at first, later he and Mrs. Leibrock established a ladies ready-to-wear store in which he was active until a week before his death.
