FORMER RESIDENT BROUGHT HERE FOR BURIAL

Mrs. A. C. Hagensick passed away Sunday night, Dec. 17, at her home in Milwaukee, Wis., her death resulting from a cerebral hemorrhage.

Hattie Stella Leibrock was born at Elkader May 4th, 1863, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Christ Leibrock. She grew to womanhood here, received her education in the Elkader schools, and on January 17th, 1882, was married to A. C. Hagensick, then Deputy Auditor of Clayton County. Mr. and Mrs. Hagensick resided in Elkader until 1899 when he entered the employ of the C. M. & St. P. Ry. and they moved to Milwaukee which has since been their home.

Six sons were born to them, Dewey C., of Ennis, Texas; Mark A., of Des Moines, Iowa; Milton E., of Chicago; Byron L. and Elton L., of Milwaukee, and Karl C., who died about eleven years ago. The surviving, with the exception of Dewey, were all here for the funeral.

Besides her husband and sons Mrs. Hagensick is survived by two brothers F. G. Leibrock of this place and Charles L. Leibrock of San Diego, Cal. one sister, Mrs. Ella Schmidt of Bristol, Colorado, and other relatives. A sister, Miss Elizabeth Leibrock died last spring.

Mrs. Hagensick was endowed with those qualities which make wifehood and motherhood the crowning glory of woman. She devoted her life to her husband and family and to her friends, making their lives better, brighter, richer through her efforts, and in turn her own life was enriched through the love and devotion she inspired. Her memory will be a sacred shrine throughout their lives.

Mrs. Hagensick was an early member of Charity Chapter, O. E. S. of this city and later transferred her membership to Bethany Chapter of Milwaukee. Eastern Star funeral services were held in Milwaukee by Bethany Chapter and her remains were brought to Elkader on Wednesday, Dec. 20. Services were held the next afternoon from the home of her brother, F. G. Leibrock and were in charge of Charity Chapter, O. E. S., Rev. Warner officiating. Interment was made in the East Side cemetery, where her parents, sister and son are buried.

Pallbearers were the four sons and Dr. R. L. Morse and Mr. George Katschkowsky.

Among the out of town relatives here for the funeral were, Chas. A. Lantzky of Dubuque, Mr. and Mrs. V. Hagensick of LaCrosse, Mrs. John Hagensick of Marquette, Mrs. F. E. Schmidt, of Bristol, Colo., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Becker, of McGregor; H. C. and C. W. Schumacher, Mrs. Fred Roebken and Mrs. W. Mohrman, of Garnavillo; Mr. and Mrs. F. Reichert of Elgin and Mrs. Anna Goodwin, of Volga City.
