Mrs. Thomas Graybill, nee Mary Ann Welsh, one of Clayton county's pioneer settlers and aged, worthy mothers, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thomas Finney, at Cassville, Wis., where she had gone a few months ago to spend the winter. The cause of her death was due mostly to old age. She had reached the age of ninety-one years, nine months and sixteen days, when the Angel of Death called her to the Great Beyond.

Deceased was born in London, England, on May 2, 1834*. When four years of age she came to America with her parents, settling at Steubenville, Ohio for a time, and from there going to St. Louis, Minn., where the family resided for a short time, after which they came to Clayton county, Iowa, where deceased spent the greater part of the remainder of her life.

When twenty-five years of age she married Thomas Graybill, of Millville township, who preceded her in death at Guttenberg in June, 1910. For many years she resided on a farm in Millville township; a number of years ago coming to Guttenberg with her husband to reside.

Mrs. Graybill was a true christian woman in every respect and was a faithful member of the United Bretheren church. To know her was to love her, and her memories will be forever cherished by all who had the pleasure of making her acquaintance. The best of care was given her at all times by her loved ones. She is survived by seven children, Mrs. M.W. Ricker of Clayton, Iowa; Thomas Marion Graybill of San Antino, Texas; Mrs. W.H. Wilse of Albion, Nebraska; James Wilbert Graybill of Norton, Minn.; Mrs. Thomas Finney of Cassville, Wis.; Mrs. Leeson Smith of Adrian, N.D. and Joseph Graybill of Guttenberg; twenty-seven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three brothers, William Welsh of Millville township; James Welsh of Arlington and George Graybill (sic) of Maynard; and numerous other relatives and friends by whom this kind and loving mother, sister and friend will be sadly missed.

Funeral services were held at the United Bretheren church at Goshen, Millville township, on Sunday morning, Rev. Hollingshead officiating. Interment was made in the Goshen cemetery. The funeral was largely attended.
