Mrs. Adelaide C. Robinson passed away at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 21 at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Kneeskern, after a five weeks illness.

Mrs. Robinson had come here on a visit February 8, and became ill on the following Saturday.

As Adelaide Catherine Woods, she was born November 15, 1865, near Georgetown, Wis., the eldest child of John W. and Phoebe Putnam Woods.

On February 22, 1881, she was united in marriage to John Alonzo A. Chewning at Plattville, Wis., who was drowned in the Mississippi river at Dubuque on May 28, 1888. Three children were born to this union: Daisy, Mrs. Roy Kneeskern, of Frankville; Grace, Mrs. S.P. Beckett, of near Clayton; and George, who passed away September 17, 1927, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

On October 28, 1891, she was married to Winthrop A. Robinson at Dubuque, and two sons were born to them: Orville, who passed away in 1909, at the age of 15 years, and Clifford of Dubuque. Mr. Robinson passed away March 28, 1934. She is also survived by his four sons of a former marriage, Thomas, of Gravette, Ark.; John of St. Paul, Minn.; Forrest of Clayton, and Hiram, of Harpers Ferry.

Mrs. Robinson is also survived by her granddaughter, Mrs. Virginia Chewning Herber, of Los Angeles, Calif., whom she reared from the age of four years, following the death of her parents. Four sisters and a brother also survive: Mrs. Edith Strinsky of Kennydale, Wash.; Mrs. Phoebe Baynham of Helena, Mont.; M.O. Woods of Minneapolis, Minn.; and Mrs. Ben Wilkemeyer of Manchester. Surviving also are eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services wee held at the Dickman funeral home in Garnavillo on Wednesday afternoon, and were conducted by Brother Genz of Dubuque. Mrs. Walter Bahls, Mrs. Joest, Mrs. Larvelt and Miss Minnie Pieper, all of Clayton, sang two hymns. The pall bearers were Earl Robinson of Waukon, Dean Kneeskern of Luana, Daniel Russett of Frankville, and Walter Bahls, Ray Joest and Leo Robinson of Clayton. Burial was made in the Clayton cemetery.
