Old Uncle Abel Allen died at Sioux Rapids, South Dakota, recently and his remains were brought back to his home here and laid to rest beside those of his wife in the Platt* cemetery, on Sunday last.

Deceased was 90 years of age at the time of his death. He was a soldier in the Rebellion, a member of Co. D, 21st Regt. Iowa Vol. Infantry. This company was known as Captain Boardman's Co.

Both as a soldier and civilian he was an earnest consistent Christian. He was totally blind and had been for a number of years and was drawing a pension of $72 per month at the time of his death.

His daughter, Ann Eliza Olmstead, accompanied the remains here.
