C.W. Oelfke and wife, who are now residents of Granada, Col., mourn the death of their youngest daughter. Their many Elkader friends will be sorry to learn of their affliction. From the 'Granada Times' we get the following:

"Near Granada, Colorado, at 11:25 o'clock, p.m., September 11, 1904, the Death Angel entered the home of Charlie and Mary Oelfke and took away their youngest daughter, aged 4 years, 3 months and 15 days. The dear little one had been suffering nearly two weeks with typhoid fever.

The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Pratt, after which the remains were sent to Garnavillo, Iowa, for interment in the Garnavillo cemetery."

~Elkader Argus, September 28, 1904

Notes:
Garnavillo cemetery sexton records do not give her DOB or DOD, but record her age as 0, which is incorrect. The lot was owned by Aug Buck, the child's maternal grandfather. Her gravestone has dates 1900-1904 and is located next to the gravestone of her parents, William C. & Mary C. Oelfke. William Charles Oelfke & Maria Buck were married 3/11/1891, per the 'Elkader Register'.
