Cain, Robert M. 1888-1889

CAIN, QUINN

The infant daughter* of Dr. John W. Cain died on Sunday night of Cholera infantum, after a short sickness, and was buried on Tuesday in the Catholic cemetery. Services were held at the church by Rev. Father Reilly, and were largely attended by friends and relatives.

The little one’s mother died shortly after her* birth, and now the father is called upon to part with the little daughter* in whom was centered all his love and attention. He has the profound sympathy of all in his affliction.

Elkader Weekly Register: September 26, 1889

*Note: the death notice was typed as it appeared in the paper. The obituary of the child's mother, Rose Cain, states she died just days after giving birth to a son. Cemetery records give his name as Robert M. It's possible that the paper printed a correction in a later issue.
