Thursday morning of last week our community was filled with sorrow over the intelligence that Rose Luella Quinn, wife of Dr. John W. Cain, had breathed her last at two o'clock that morning. What at first seemed only a rumor, proved alas, too true.
On Wednesday, Dec. 5th, Mrs. Cain gave birth to a son, and seemed to be doing nicely, until the forenoon of the 12th, when she took a change that proved beyond medical skill, and she gradually sank until she expired. While conscious she realized fully her condition, and stated that she knew everything had been done for her that was possible, and that she was in God's hands.
Mrs. Cain was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Quinn, of Cox Creek township, and was born at the family residence in the above township May 30, 1865, and was married to Dr. Cain in June 1886.
Coming to our town to reside she had by her quiet, friendly disposition attracted to her many friends outside of her family who today join with them in mourning. Words fail to express the sympathy of our people generally for the father, mother, sisters, brothers, husband and the little one who has lost its best friend.
The funeral which occurred on Friday morning last at the Catholic church, Rev. Reilly officiating was largely attended.
