At the family residence, Elkader, on Saturday, July 6th, 1889, occurred the death of Ferdinand Horn, of old age and general debility.
Deceased was born at Drillfingen, Hohenzollern-Sig_Maringen, Germany, October 15th, 1818, and was therefore nearly 71 years of age at the time of his death.
He came to the United States in 1847, settling in Ohio, where he was married to Catherine Hertling, who survives him.
Later he moved to Pittsburg, where he resided four years and then came to Clayton county where he has lived for thirty-two years, honored and respected by all who knew him.
Besides his wife he leaves four grown sons and one daughter to mourn the death of a loving husband and an indulgent father. Two of his sons are now living in Washington Territory and one in Dakota.
The funeral took place Sunday morning from the Catholic church, Rev. Father Reilly officiating, and was largely attended.
