Julia McGrath Brazzell, wife of John Brazzell Sr., died at her late home in this city, at 1:35 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7th, 1900, of catarrh of the stomach, aged nearly 75 years, after an illness of about two years, the latter two months of which she was continuously confined to her bed.

Julia McGrath was born in county Wicklow, Ireland, Oct. 11, 1825; came to America with her father, her mother dying on the ocean, in 1850 and settled in Dubuque county, Iowa; married John Brazzell there Feb. 8th, 1852; soon thereafter removed with her husband to Clayton county, Iowa, and went to farming; remained there until 1874, and then moved to a farm in Rock county, Minn.; came to Turner county, Dakota, in 1876, and located on a homestead in Home township; resided there until four years ago last fall, when Parker became her home.

The deceased was a woman of many virtues, a communicant of the Catholic church, and was the mother of eight children, seven of whom are living - Mrs. Frank Leahy of Parker, Mrs. Thomas Mullen of Woolley, Wash., Martin of Sheldon, Iowa, Mrs. Azor Knowlton of Parker, Mrs. John Crowley of Lennox, James of Parker, and John of Centerville.

The funeral services were held at 10 o'clock yesterday morning in the Catholic church, Father Fienler of Parker, Father Grabig of Bridgewater and Father Robinson of Jefferson, officiating, and Father Grabig preaching the funeral sermon. The funeral was largely attended, the deceased having been a pioneer of this county and was well and favorably known for her kind neighborly ways and gracious disposition.

The interment was in the Catholic cemetery of Parker. The bereaved husband and children have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends in their sad affliction.
