Died on Saturday, Jan. 12, 1889, at Winnoa, Minnesota, Mariette Clark, wife of Wm. H. Stevens, deceased. The deceased was born in Rutland, Vt., July 30, 1812. She came west in 1837, and settled in Prairie du Chien, Wis., where she was married to Wm. H. Stevens in 1838. The family settled in Garnavillo in 1850, and resided here until the death of Mr. Stevens, which occurred in 1880. She then disposed of her property and removed to Minnesota where she died. Her remains were brought to Garnavillo on Monday, and she was buried in the old cemetery by the side of her husband.
