Henry C. Behrens died Oct. 26, at 9:30 a.m., from a sudden heart attack as he was picking corn with his wife on the farm in Pony Hollow.

The deceased was born Jan. 22, 1873, and at the time of his death had reached the age of 66 years, nine months and four days.

He was united in marriage with Bertha Dedrick on Oct. 16, 1895. To this union 12 children were born, two of whom preceded the father in death. Those surviving him are: Leo Berhens, Osage; Mrs. Rose Koehn, Communia; Harry Behrens at home; Mrs. Elsie Emmerson, Elkader; Mrs. Mineva Hulbert, Postville; Mrs. Florence Wells, Elkader; Vallie Behrens, Elkader; Mrs. Valmah Connors, Osage; Mrs. Ilo Hulverson, Elkader; and Mrs. Inez Miller, Elkader. Besides these, there are 28 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as three sisters and three brothers, as follows: Mrs. Emma Rinkert, Littleport; Mrs. Mary Plagman, Elkader; Mrs. Annie Lenhart, Littleport; Charley Behrens, Sanburn, Minn.; William Behrens and Chris Behrens, both of Littleport.

Funeral services were held from the McTaggart funeral home last Saturday afternoon at 1:30, and at 2:15 in St. John's Lutheran church in Littleport, with the Rev. Leon Gehret officiating. Burial was made in Union cemetery at Littleport.

Casket-bearers were: Elmer Dill, Mike Bente, Ruben Mork, D. F. Willmes and Henry Meyer.
