Military funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 26, 1979, for Louis M. Wagner, 80, at Witt's Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Marcks officiating and burial in East Side Cemetery with Rev. Ted B. Newton officiating. Pallbearers were William Kennedy, Leonard Thein, Lyle Nus, Gene Watson, John Johansen and Milton Wolf.
He was born February 18, 1899 in Elkader to Louis and Anna Meese Wagner. He was raised and Educated in Elkader, then served in World War II in the Navy Seabees. On July 29, 1925 he married Cordelia Vorwald. They had one daughter, Allene, and lived in Elkader. The majority of his life was spent in Electrical and refrigeration service work. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He died February 23, 1979 in the Riverview Care Center, Guttenberg.
Mr. Wagner was preceded in death by his parents and half brother, Oscar Meese. He is survived by his wife, Cordelia; daughter, Allene (Mrs. Don Matt); three grandchildren, Cheryl Matt Reinhart, Iowa City; Dianne Matt Synhorst, Salt Lake City, Utah, and David Matt, Boulder, Colorado; and three great-grandchildren.
