Lloyd Norris Nelson, died Tuesday, Jan. 07, 1958, at a hospital in Guttenberg. He was born in St. Olaf in Clayton county, Iowa, June 10, 1895. He was the son of Hans Nelson and Mattie Hulverson Nelson. On July 21, 1895, he was baptized in the Norway Lutheran church at St. Olaf. On May 29, 1910, he was confirmed in the Norway Lutheran church at St. Olaf, at which time the pastor gave him the memory verse for life Ecclesiastes 12:1.
On April 14, 1915 he was married to Lucy Schmidt at St. Olaf. To this union was born three daughters and two sons.
Mr. Nelson farmed his whole life near St. Olaf and Elkader, until about three years ago, when he and Mrs. Nelson moved to Guttenberg, where he was employed by the city water works department.
He is survived by his wife, Lucy Nelson, three daughters, Mrs. William (Dorothy) Schmidt, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs. Harlan (Arleen) Thurn, Littleport; Mrs. Loraine (Lela June) Horstman, Guttenberg: two sons, Clifford Nelson, Madison, Wis., and Leighton Nelson, Elkader. Also a sister, Miss Mary Nelson, Guttenberg; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild. One brother, one grandchild, and his parents preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held in Elkader at Our Redeemer Lutheran church, of which he was a member.
A prayer service at 11:00 a.m., and the regular service at 2:00 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Theo. Rottmann of Delaware. Burial was in the Norway cemetery.
Pallbearers were: George Schrampfer, John Leuchtenmacher, Ray Frances, Albert Holden, Floyd Leuchtenmacher and George Glock.
Relatives who attended the funeral from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Lester Korsner, Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. William Schmidt, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Thurn, Jr. and Bradly, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Schmidt, and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Schmidt and family, Rockford, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Nelson, Madison, Wis.
