Elkader Register and Argus, 7 Jan. 1915.

Mildred Pernilla, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ole Benson, of Wagner township, died very unexpectedly on Dec. 29th, 1914. She had been confined to her bed but one day. She attended the Christmas tree festival in the Norway church in the evening of Dec. 26th and was not as well as usual on Sunday, Dec. 27th, but was up and around. Monday she got up early, but when her sister Janet got her back to bed she was speechless. She was conscious most of the time but could not talk and died Tuesday morning. Her parents had intended to send her to Waldorf College, at Forest City, Iowa, after New Years. She did leave, not for that school, but for the beautiful home above, where she shall meet Jesus face to face.

The funeral took place on Dec. 31st, attended by many relatives and friends. She will indeed be missed, not only by her parents, sisters and brother, but by the whole neighborhood. Rev. Arvesen, who had confirmed her, conducted the funeral services at the home, the church and the grave. She had reached the age of seventeen years, seven months, three weeks and five days, and is survived by her parents, four sisters and one brother. The family has our deepest sympathy.

"But, let us leave her to her rest
And homeward turn, for she is blest;
And we must all our souls prepare,
When death shall come, to meet her
There."
"So help us, Christ, our hope in loss,
Thou has redeemed us by Thy cross,
From endless death and misery,
We praise, and bless and worship Thee."
