Mrs. Alfred Horstman
Funeral services for Mrs. Alfred Horstman were held from the Witt funeral chapel to the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church Saturday afternoon August 6. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery, Strawberry Point, Iowa.
Mrs. Horstman died at Prairie du Chien, Wis. Wednesday evening August 4, 1949. She had been sick but one day. The immediate cause of death was an internal hemmorage.
Alberta Gentz was born at Elkport, Iowa, April 23, 1928, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gentz. She had reached the age of twenty-one years, three months and ten days.
She received her education in the Dinan school and the Littleport high school. She then worked at the County Home and various other places until December 14, 1948 when she was united in marriage to Alfred Horstman. They moved into an apartment in the Eldon Kruse home near Elkport where Mr. Horstman was employed.
Mrs. Horstman was a confirmed member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church of Elkader. She is survived by her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gentz, two sisters and one brother: Mrs. Melvin (Arlene) Hakert, Lucena and Verni Gentz both at home; also her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Gentz, Littleport and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Caroline Miller, Delaware, Ia., and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Eldon Kruse, Gerald Beck, Marvin Hakert, Lowell Lindenberg, Bernard Thein, Carroll Baning.
