MRS. CHRISTIANCE STRUBE
On Wednesday morning it was announced that Mrs. C. Strube had passed away during the night, from heart disease. Mrs. Strube was born at Unelsohl [NOTE: third and fourth letters of this name are difficult to read on the microfilm] and der Werra [sic], Saxe-Waimer [sic], Germany, on June 2, 1826, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Eberhardt. She was married to John H. Strube in Aug. 1856 in this city an there were born to them six children, four boys and two girls. They were Rudolf, Henry[,] Burno [sic], Alvin and Mrs. George Friedlein, and one girl died while and [sic] infant. She came to America in 1854 and to Guttenberg in 1855 and has since resided in this vicinity. The funeral was held Sunday, Feb. 11, 1900 from her late home, Rev. Sommerlad, of Garnavillo, conducting the funeral services, with burial at the family cemetery on the old homestead where she had passed so many years. The funeral was very largely attended. Mrs. Strube was 73 years[,] 8 months and 5 days of age at the time of her death.
The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved children in their affliction.
