OBITUARY
_______Mrs. Elizabeth Jacobs, a resident of Guttenberg for more than half a century, passed away peacefully at at [sic] her home on Front street early Sunday morning May 21, aged 67 years, 8 months and 4 days. She had been in feeble health during the past three months owing to assimmilation [sic] of gall stones.
Elizabeth Nolte was born September 17, 1843, at Bisohhagen, Prussia, Cermany [sic] and in 1845 came to America with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Nolte who after remaining three months in New Orleans and seven years in St. Louis, in 1852 located at Guttenberg, where March 8th, 1868 she was married to G. H. Jacobs, who died September 19, 1888. To them were born eleven children, four of whom died in infancy.
She was a kind and loving mother, a true friend and neighbor and will be sadly missed by all, especially her surviving children, in and for whom she always manifested a life interest. The surviving seven children are Walter, of Aberdeen, S. D.; Mrs. Werner Eggerth, of Spokane, Wash.; Wm. H. of Helena, Mont.; Mrs. W. A. Stretch of Chicago; Hugo, Geo. M. and Addie of Guttenberg, all of whom were present to pay their last respects to their departed mother.
The funeral took place from the residence at 2:00 p. m. Thursday May 25 with interment at the City cemetery. Atty. A. H. Borman officiated.
Relatives and friends out of the city who attended the funeral were W. A. Stretch, Chicago; Mrs. Henry Mundt, Humboldt, S. D.; Mrs. Sophia Bloedel, McGregor; Mrs. Christina Kirch and daughter, Mrs. F. J. Heller, Miss Millie Block, Henry A. Trenk, Mrs. Henry Metcalf and two sons, Dubuque, Mrs. Henry Hammann and son John, Garnavillo.

Death of Mrs. Elizabeth Jacobs.
Mrs. Elizabeth Jacobs, nee Nolte, died at her home in this city on Sunday morning, May 21, 1911, at the age of 67 years, 8 months and 4 days, after a lingering illness of liver complaint and gall stones. Deceased was born September 17, 1843, at Bissohagen, Prussia, Germany, and came to America, in 1845. In 1852 she came to Clayton, Iowa, settling in Guttenberg, where she spent the remainder of her life, and where she was united in marriage to G. H. Jacobs in 1868, who died in 1888. To this union were born 7 children, 4 boys and 3 daughters, who are all living, namely Walter, of Aberdeen, S. D., Hugo, George and Addie, of Guttenberg, William, of Helena, Montana, Clementine, of Spokane, Washington, and Mattie of Chicago. Mrs. Jacobs was a kind and true mother, friend and neighbor, and was highly respected by all who knew her. The funeral was held this afternoon from her late residence to the city cemetery, where the remains were laid to rest, Attorney Aug. H. Borman, officiating. May she rest at peace. The funeral was largely attended.
