BURIAL HERE FOR NATIVE
_______Burial services were held here Tuesday for Mrs. George Stoecker, who died last Thursday at a Mason City hospital on her seventy-ninth birthday. Mrs. Stoecker had been in poor health for a number of years.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stoecker were held at First Lutheran church in Northwood on Saturday with Rev. Oscar Mikkelson in charge. The burial was in charge of the Tuecke funeral home here with the following as pallbearers: Francis Moser, Al Moser, Wallace Finnegan and Elmer Meyer. Pallbearers at Northwood were David Backstrom, Howard Bakken, George Mielke, E. C. Bottolfson, Arthur Butler and Martin Roisen.
Mrs. Stoecker was born February 11, 1881, at Osterdock, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Troester. She was married to George Stoecker and the couple farmed a number of years near Manly, purchasing a farm near Northwood 25 years ago. In 1945 they retired and moved to Northwood.
Surviving Mrs. Stoecker are Mr. Stoecker and one son, George A. Stoecker of Jackson, Michigan. Also surviving are three grandchildren, three brothers, Francis Troester of Guttenberg, Albert Troester of Dubuque and Irving Troester of Des Moines, and two sisters, Miss Esther Troester of Osterdock and Mrs. Emil Benjegerdes of Manly.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth; a brother, George, and two sisters, Peal Brown and Ella Moser.
[NOTE: Her obituary states that she died on her birthday, but according to the dating of the newspaper issue and the wording of the obituary, she would have died on 18 June 1960, no 11 February 1960. Also, her first name was Paula, according to other records.]
