Died at Monona, Clayton county, Iowa, April 22nd, 1855, Mr. Jacob Winters, in the 70th year of his age.
The deceased was a native of Vermont, and had been for many years a resident of the State of New York. He removed with his family to this country three years ago, and has been afflicted for the last two years with Cancer upon his face, from which he suffered greatly; thro’ all his sufferings he manifested the greatest patience and forbearance, and has left to his family and others, a bright evidence of the goodness of the Christian religion in a dying hour.
“There is a better land thank God,
Where friends shall meet to part no more,
Where every ray of friendship true,
Which hath been lent us here below,
Shall be recalled in Heaven.”
