Strawberry Point, Ia., Dec. 30 - The death of E.J. Deyo occurred at his home southwest of here Sunday afternoon. The funeral will probably be held Wednesday afternoon at the Lutheran church.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Deyo and was born here in 1959 (sic). He was a painter and decorator and also farmed for a time. Besides his widow he is survived by one son and one daughter, and four grandchildren.

Funeral services for E. J. Deyo occurred at the Lutheran church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by the pastor, Rev. M. O. Jahr. Music was furnished bay A. A. Dahl, Miss Elizabeth Krause, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hagge and Mrs. O. Gipper presided at the pipe organ. The pallbearers were: E. F. Donath, Joe Birrer, B. W. Talcott, E. E. Bartlett, Phin Weig and Henry Bartels. Interment took place in the local cemetery.
Elery James, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John H. Deyo, was born at Strawberry Point, May 18, 1858. With the exception of a few months in Clinton and Waterloo, is entire life was spent here following the trade of a painter and decorator and the vocation of farming. On May 01, 1879, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Duerst of this city. Three children were born to this union, one passing away in infancy. Mr. Deyo was a man respected by all for his honesty. He had not been well for some time, but was up and around most of the time until the past few weeks, and he passed away last Sunday afternoon at his home southeast of town, at the age of 72 years, 7 months and 10 days. He is survived by his wife, a son, Carl C. Deyo, of this place, a daughter, Mrs. Theodore (Alice) Opperman of Oelwein and other relatives and a large circle of friends.
