Obituary - Sarah Ella Kimpston

Sarah Ella, daughter of Frank Kimpston, was born Sept. 3, 1881, in Illyria township, Fayette County, Iowa, and died July 28, 1917, at the age of 35 years, 19 months, and 25 days.

She was married to Ralph J. Koons, April 8, 1903. Besides her father, mother, two sisters and five brothers, she leaves seven children: Vernon, Frances, Florence, Devillo, Howard, Freeen and John. A daughter, Mary, died in infancy.

She was a member of the Volga City Presbyterian church. She united with this church when she was eighteen years of age.

Unmindful of herself, her life was always devoted to the welfare of others. This was true of her even in her sickness and departure. A few hours before her departure she dropped into unconsciousness, the family thinking that death had come, but she revived and with a mind as clear as ever, she told how the angels had visited her and that she did not dread the going, only the leaving of her beloved ones and admonished each one personally to meet her in heaven.

"Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord.
They rest from their labors and their works do follow them."

The funeral services were held at the Illyria church, conducted by Rev. Issac Cassel. She was laid to rest in the cemetery by the church.

~Register & Argus, August 2, 1917 (Illyria news column)

~Note: the first paragraph gave her name as Mrs. Ralph Kuhn, but the correct spelling is Koons.
