Mrs. Lena Theodore
Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at St. Paul’s church for Mrs. Lena Theodore, 80. The Rev. Alexander Meyer officiated at the service.
Mrs. Theodore, who had been sick for about a week and a half, died on Thursday, December 12, 1946.
She was born on October 30, 1866 in Clayton township, a daughter of John and Marie Dehn. When she was ten years, she became ill and an outcome of her illness was that she became deaf in both ears. She attended the Council Bluffs school for the deaf where she learned to speak English, to read lips and to do fine needlework, oil painting and charcoal drawings.
Her husband died on April 18, 1943 and one daughter, Lena, and her parents also preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Arno Stickfort of Garnavillo and Mrs. Elmer H. Mueller of Sioux Falls, S. Dak., two sons, William of Dubuque and Alto of Clayton and one sister, Mrs. Emma Petersen of Lincoln, Nebr., twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
She was a member of the Ladies Aid of St. Paul’s Church.
