On Friday, November 7th, 1884, last at National, occurred the death of John Dice, of neuralgia of the stomach, at the age of 84 years, 1 month and 29 days.

Mr. Dice was born in Washington county, Pennsylvania, and came to Iowa in 1857. He married as his second wife, Miss Jane C. Drips, in the fall of 1858, and settled on a farm near National, living there until 11 years ago, at which time he removed to National, where he resided at the time of his death.

The deceased leaves a wife, and four children by his first wife, to mourn the loss of a kind husband and an affectionate father.

The funeral took place at the Congregational church in National, on Sunday last, of which society Mr. Dice is a member, the services being conducted by Rev. Mr. Potwin, of Monona. A large number of friends and neighbors of the deceased were in attendance at the sad last rites. Burial was in the National cemetery.
