On Friday last, October 10th, 1884, at his residence in Boardman township, occurred the death of Frederick Meyer, at the advance age of 61 years. His death was caused by a cancer in the stomach.
Deceased was a native of Mecklenburg, Germany, but came to the United States about 30 years ago, locating in Garnavillo township where for seven years he followed his trade – that of a tailor. Becoming tired of the confining life of a tailor, he purchased a farm Boardman township, on which he resided at the time of his death. He was an honest, hardworking man, a god citizen and was well liked by all who knew him.
He leaves a wife and 9 children to mourn the death of a kind and loving husband and father.
The funeral took place on Sunday, his remains being laid away to their final rest in the cemetery on the east side, and were flowed to their resting place by a large number of our citizens.
