Louisa Meyer died at the home of her stepson, Mr. Louis Meyer, on Thursday Oct. 24, 1895, Mrs. Louise Meyer, at the advanced age of 90 years, 3 months, and 4 days.
Deceased was born in Mueden, Prussia, July 20, 1805. She married her second husband William Meyer in 1845 and came with him to this country in 1854.
After residing a few years on a farm, they moved to town, where Mr. Meyer was employed for a number of years as Janitor of St. Paul’s church.
In 1877 they gave up housekeeping in town and lived with their son, where after a few years Mr. Meyer died.
Mrs. Meyer was a rugged old lady of the true German type, always cheerful however trying her situation might be. Full of hope and trust, she carried solace to every heart that appealed to her in trouble. Having no children of her own she found joy and comfort in caring for her step children, three of whom mourn her death.
She was buried on Sunday, Oct. 27, 1895, in the Garnavillo cemetery, Rev. Sommerlad officiating.
