John Tackman died October 27, 1895, at his home in Buck Creek, after a sickness of eleven years.

He was born in Mecklenburg, Schwerein, Feb. 1, 1832. He leaves behind him his wife and seven children to mourn his death. Mr. Tackman was once a very powerful man, but eleven years of sickness finally exhausted him. He was buried Tuesday afternoon at this place. Rev. Sommerlad officiating.
