A fatal accident occurred last Friday morning about 6:00 o'clock, at the Henry Taake farm, about four miles east of Elkader, when Mrs. Henry Taake was accidentally killed by the discharge of a shot gun.

Mr. Taake had gone to the barn to do the chores when he noticed a weasel near the chicken coop. He went back to the house for his shot gun; the gun being old and rusty, could not be discharged. He went back into the house and asked his wife for an oil can. While applying oil to the gun in some way the shell exploded, penetrating his wife's head at the base of the skull, with the above result.

What a shock our Zions Lutheran congregation received when the sad news of the entirely unexpected death of Mrs. Henry Taake nee Wilker became known. She accidently passed away Saturday July 19, about 6 o'clock in the morning. The bereaved family is looking and longing for real comfort.

The message of consolation in this special case, Paul brings in his confession of humility. Romans 11. How unsearchable are his judgments and his ways past finding out.

Our departed sister Mrs. Louise Bertha Mary Taake, nee Wilker, was born August 21, 1881. Her cradle stood in Read township, Clayton County, Iowa. She received the Sacrament of the Holy baptism Dec. 4, 1881 in our Zions Lutheran church at Clayton Center, Iowa. April 7, 1895 our departed one was confirmed in the same church. She grew up under the sunshine of love in the home of her dear parents. The divine Providence has endowed her with a strong body in connection with an iron health.

June 12, 1901, 23 years ago she was united in marriage to her sorrowing husband, Mr. Henry Taake. It was the same year when Mr. Taake took possession of the farm where he is still living. To this blessed union were born 6 children. Two children preceded her in death. The four children are standing in deepest grief before the coffin of their beloved mother.

Their names are: Le Roy, Eleanore, Iona and Carrie.

She leaves besides her sorrowing husband, her deeply afflicted mother, Mrs. Wilhelmina Wilker, her step-sister, Mrs. Margaret Suddendorf, and her mournful six sisters and three brothers, viz. Mrs. Katherine Maehl, Read township; Mrs. Annie Juting, Bruce, South Dakota; Mr. George Wilker, Farmersburg township; Mrs. Mary Lenth, Monona, Iowa; Mrs. Sophia Granzow, Lyons county, Iowa; Mr. Fred Wilker, Read township; Mr. John Wilker, Read township; Mrs. Ida Polkow, Read township and Mrs. Bertha Breitsprecher, Read township; a number of other relatives, friends and neighbors to mourn her grave loss.

She was also an active and loving member of our Ladies' Aid Society.

This departed sister would reach an age of only 42 years 18 months and 28 days. She found her last resting place in the new cemetery of the Zions Lutheran church at Clayton Center. Rev. Wm. Wuestenberg, her minister officiating in the mourning house, in the church and at the grave.

May she rest in peace.
