Merlin L. Larson, the eight year old son of Lars P. and Lydia Larson was drowned in a creek near their home in Highland township yesterday morning.
The boy, with Harold Larson, a cousin, left home at about 8:00 o'clock to go to the church where religious instruction was being given. When they came to the creek, Merlin decided to go in swimming and Harold went on to the church. A little later some girls told the teacher, Miss Cora Martinson, of seeing Merlin at the creek. Miss Martinson at once went to get him and found his body in a pool. Medical aid was summoned and efforts made to resuscitate him but without success.
Merlin L. Larson was born February 7, 1916 on the home farm in Highland township. He is survived by his parents, a half brother and half sister who are older, a younger brother and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at the Highland church at 2:00 o'clock, Saturday afternoon and burial will be in the Highland cemetery.
The sympathy of the entire community goes out to the bereaved parents in their loss.
