Strawberry Point- Miss Sophia Wolters, 76, died at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein May 2, 1950 after a sudden illness. Daughter of William and Sophia Becker Wolters, she was born October 4, 1873, near Elkader, Iowa. She was graduated from the Elkader public school and lived the greater part of her life in Elkader where she followed the occupation of a seamstress. She affiliated with Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point after coming here about four years ago, and has been a member since.

Survivors include Mrs. Carrie Stahl, Elkader, Iowa: Mrs. Ida Fliehler, Strawberry Point: Mrs. Rosa Peake, Oelwein, Iowa and Mrs. Emma Fisk, Edmunds, Washington, all of them sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 5, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point with the Reverend S. J. Meyer in charge of the service. Interment will be made in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
