In his residence Johann Louis Mueller passed away in the early morning hour of January 7th. He was born on the 19th day of February, 1857 in Jefferson township as the son of Mr. Louis Mueller and his wife, Dorothea nee Palas. He was one of the family of 9 children of whom only the four sisters remain, in him the last of the boys has passed away. He was confirmed in St. Paul’s church at Garnavillo by Rev. Erbey on the 9th day of April 1871. He was married to Miss Mathilda Suhr by the Rev. F. Seifert of Clayton Center on the 28th of September 1882. The Lord gave to this union 4 children all of whom are living. Emilie, Mrs. Wm. Matt, of Farmersburg twp., Ina, Mrs. Rev Fred Voelker of Mendota, Ill., Mathilda, Mrs. Lloyd Brownson and Louis Mueller, both of Farmersburg twp.
When he started farming for himself he lived between Garnavillo and Clayton for 10 years and in 1892 he moved to Farmersburg which was his family homestead. In 1907 he moved to Farmersburg and 4 years later back onto the farm. After another 4 years be moved to Garnavillo and later on to Farmersburg again where he concluded his earthly pilgrimage. He never had to suffer from sickness except once for a very short period. He was taken seriously ill about 5 weeks ago with a paralysis of the left side. After 5 weeks of patient suffering he was released on the morning of the 7ty, at the age of 64 years 10 months and 18 days. He leaves aside of his wife and children 8 grand-children and 4 sisters, Marie, Mrs. Tuecke; Anna, Mrs. Palas; Dorothea, Mrs. Hempeler; Mathilda, Mrs. Turner.
The funeral took place on Tuesday, January 10th from the family home, Rev. Dr. G.F. Braun officiating, to St. Peter’s Lutheran church at Garnavillo, Rev. Mein officiating. The internment took place in the Garnavillo cemetery.
