Louis Henry Mueller was born in Mecklenburg, Schwerin, Germany March 10th, 1822 and died at his home in this city on May 3rd, 1907 after being ill since January with ulcers of the stomach. He was engaged to Dorothy Palas, of his native town and they came to America in 1853 arriving at Guttenberg on the 14th of April. Several months later they were married in this city and moved to a farm in Jefferson township.. Later they moved to a farm in Farmersburg township where they lived until six years ago when they moved to Garnavillo.
There were nine children born to them two, William and Charles, dying while young and those living are Mrs. Dorothy Hempeler, Mrs. Mary Tuecke and Mrs. Anna Pahlas, of this place. Henry Mueller of Garnavillo township, John Mueller of Clayton township, and Louis Mueller of Farmersburg township, and Mrs. Matilda Turner of Fonda, Iowa. He is also survived by his wife, a younger sister Elizabeth and an elder brother Ferdinand, both living in Germany, nineteen grandchildren, a large number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services conducted by Rev. Mall, were held at St. Peter’s church on Tuesday, May 7, 1907, after interment was made in the new cemetery.Elkader Register & Argus: 5-15-1907
