McGregor- A McGregor high school senior was fatally injured and a companion suffered less serious injuries when their car went out of control and overturned Monday afternoon three miles south of here on the McGregor-Clayton road.

Robert Davis, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Davis of McGregor, died as a result of a ruptured lung, 15 minutes after he was taken to the McGregor hospital. James R. Koehn, driver of the car, also 1_ (looks like 6 or 8), son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Koehn of McGregor, suffered a light shoulder dislocation, lacerations of the abdomen and severe shock. His injuries were not considered serious.

The boys were enroute to Clayton to get some ice for the school Halloween carnival held Monday night in McGregor.

Sheriff Forrest W. Fischer, who investigated the accident, said the car was going at a moderate rate of speed when Koehn apparently hit some gravel and lost control of the car, which overturned and landed in a ditch. The boys were thrown out of the moving vehicle.

The Davis boy was a leader in Clayton county 4-H work. He is survived by his parents, three sisters and a brother.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the McGregor community rooms by the Rev. C. W. Punter.
