Elkader- Mrs. Catherine Donlon, 86, widow of John F. Donlon, died at her home here. Services Thursday, 10 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Mrs. John F. Donlon, nee Catherine R. Faber, was born April 28, 1863, at Chaska, Minn., and died at her home in Boardman township on Dec. 12 of infirmities of old age. She had been ailing for seven years.

She was the daughter of George and Genevieve Faber. She received her education in the school of Chaska and Shokopee, Minn., boarding school. She was the last of a family of thirteen children to die, and the fourth child in the family. Her parents were among the earliest settlers of Chaska. Her father settled there in 1850 following his return from the California gold rush in 1849. He was engaged in the mercantile business and also owned one of the brick yards at Chaska.

On June 14, 1898, she was married to John F. Donlon at Chaska, Minn. They moved to the old Donlon farm in Highland township, seven miles northwest of Elkader and in the spring of 1900 they moved to the farm three miles west of Elkader, where she died.

Two sons, Stephen G. and Arthur T., both of Elkader, were born to this union.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1893, her mother in 1918, and her husband, John F. Donlon, on June 19, 1947.

Besides her two sons she is survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 15, from the St. Joseph church and burial was in the St. Joseph cemetery. The Rev. Jerald Blackburn officiated. Pallbearers were: George Kuehl, George Cassutt, Leo Kelleher, James Cain, Clarence Bauer, and M. R. Hurley.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: The Rev. Luke Donlon and Miss Christine Anhalt, Monona; Mrs. S. E. Donlon and son, Dr. Wm. P. Donlon, Chicago; Mrs. Mary Donlon, Thomas Donlon and Miss Anna Boland, Decorah; Mrs. Bid Casey, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Reilly, Coggon; Dr. and Mrs. Luke Faber, Dubuque; and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Rothmeyer, Monona.
