Postville Herald, Postville, Iowa, Thur., 25 Jan. 1923.

It was on the 17th of November, 1867, in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county, Iowa, that Anna Catherine Knodt first saw the light of day. The childhood days were spent on the farm with her parents; her baptismal and confirmation rites were here received.

On May 30, 1888, she was married to John Ruckdaschel and heir (her) new home was established one mile southeast of Postville, where two years were spent. During the next ten years the family resided on the farm one mile south of Postville. Beginning in 1900 one year was spent in Postville, after which the family returned to the farm, where they have since resided.

For the past few years she has been sorely afflicted with bodily ills, and gradually her strength failed despite efforts put forth to stay the progress of her disease, and on Sunday Jan. 21, 1923, she passed to the other shore where neither sickness nor sorrow ever come. Her age was fifty-five years, two months and three days.

Mrs. Ruckdaschel was a faithful wife and devoted mother, an industrious woman, whose good qualities of head and heart were admired by a wide circle of friends.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband and five children, Mrs. Walter Heins of Luana, Ernest of Postville; Lenora, John and Hertha at home; also two grandchildren, one sister and four brothers. One of her daughters preceded her in death a number of years ago.

The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city on Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. E. Schmidt, assisted by Rev. J. A. Saathoff. Interment in the Postville cemetery.
