Elkader- Violet Polkow, 90, of Rockford, Ill., formerly of Elkader, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, in Alma Nelson Manor, Rockford, Ill., after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center, by the Rev. Gary Hatcher and Intern Pastor Heidi Happel. Burial: Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour before services on Monday. Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader, is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include three sisters, Angie Connelly of LeClaire, and Florence Mecklenburg and Frieda Cooke, both of Modesto, Calif.
