The first death of the season to result from heat prostration occurred during the night Friday when Henry Lueck expired at the Central House on Fourth and Locust streets. He was found dead in his room by a friend at 6:00 o'clock Saturday morning.

Lueck had been employed at the Standard Lumber Company's plant. The mill shut down at noon Friday because of the excessive heat, and Lueck went straight to his boarding place. He complained of the hot weather and said that he was not feeling well. Later in the afternoon he went up to his room to lie down. He was visited during the evening by the friend who on Saturday found him dead. Although he was ill it was not thought that his condition was serious and it was believed that he would be all right again after he had rested up a bit.

As soon as the body was found, Coroner Ryan was summoned. He pronounced it as his opinion that the man had been dead since midnight; an inquest will be held on Saturday night.

Lueck, who lived at Guttenberg, was a man of about thirty years of age and unmarried. He had been here for about two weeks. Relatives and friends at the up-river town were notified of the sudden death and they sent a dispatch stating that they would arrive in Dubuque Saturday evening to take charge of the remains.

--

On Saturday night, Coroner Ryan empaneled a jury to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Henry Lueck, who was found dead in his room at the Central house on Locust street early Satuday morning. The body returned a verdict of death induced by the extreme heat. A brother of the deceased man came down from Guttenberg to take charge of the remains. The body was taken back on Saturday night to that place, where the funeral will be held.
