Buechel Rites Held
Lifelong Resident of the Community Died on FridayA Requiem High Mass was offered Monday morning at 9:30 at St. Mary's Catholic church for Henry F. Buechel, 75, who died at the family home in Guttenberg last Friday, April 9, following a long illness. The mass was recited by Rev. Alfred J. Schmitz, pastor of St. Mary's church, and burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery in charge of the McBride Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Howard Eglseder, Wilfred Hammel, Omer Hammel, Robert Baumhover, George Harbaugh, Jr. and Louis Hammel. The parish rosary was recited at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Sunday evening.
Henry F. Buechel was born in Guttenberg on January 23, 1890, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Buechel, Sr. On June 25, 1913 he married Rose Junk at Guttenberg.
Surviving Mr. Buechel are Mrs. Buechel and six children; Mrs. A. A. Ahlers of Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Delbert Kann of Cedar Rapids; James Buechel of Mauston, Wisconsin; William Buechel of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. George Harbaugh and Mrs. Eldon Vorwald of Guttenberg.
Also surviving are nineteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren as well as a brother, Louis of Dubuque and five sisters, Mary Baumhover of Dubuque; Mrs. Elizabeth Eglseder, Miss Lena Buechel and Mrs. Agnes Beutel of Guttenberg; and Miss Irma Buechel of Des Moines.
Mr. Buechel was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
