'AUSTIN ADNEY RITES FRIDAY - Died of Injuries after being struck by Car Crank'
Funeral services for Austin Adney, whose death occurred Tuesday, March 31, following injuries received when he was struck in the head by the crank of a car, were held from the Methodist church Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. F. H. Schepple officiating. His death followed his mother's death by several days. (see obituary for Sarah Ann Oxberger Adney)
Austin Higley Adney was born at Soldiers Grove, Wis., on February 11, 1870. He died at McGregor, Iowa March 31, 1931, aged 61 years. In 1890 he was united in marriage to Miss Josephine Burrows at McGregor, who with two sons, Harry and Elmer, preceded him in death. On January 1, 1902 he married Miss Georgia Gruver of McGregor. To them the following nine children were born: Mrs. Marie Marlett of McGregor, Mrs. William Burth of Waukon, Ernest and Theodore of Waukon Junction and Daniel of Waukon Junction, David, Esther and Paul at home, one son, Robert, having preceded him in death three years ago. Mr. Adney was injured two weeks ago. His wife, eight children and five brothers, two sisters, and seven grandchildren mourn his death.
