Monona- Iva M. Henkes, 86, died Sunday, May 14, 2000, in Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wis., after a sudden illness. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona: Burial; church cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8:30 p.m. today at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona.

Survivors include her husband, Donald: and two sons, L'Dean and James, both of Monona.

Iva Minnie Manda Topel was the daughter of William Albert Topel and Mathilda (Schroeder) Topel. Iva was born on January 2, 1914 in Post Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. On June 5, 1935 she married Donald Fred Henkes in Monona, Iowa. Iva and Donald were the parents of L'Dean Henkes and James Henkes. Iva's siblings were Florence Marie Henrietta Topel who married John Carl Martens. Viola Nora Topel who married Lloyd Henry Russell, and Donna Mae Topel who married Delos W. Martins. Iva died on May 14, 2000 at Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Iva was preceded in death by her parents and her siblngs. On July 29,1995 her grandson Dwain Henkes, his wife Jody (Redman) Henkes, and their two sons Austin and Aren Henkes were tragically killed as a result of a pickup-train accident north of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. On November 22, 1995 her infant great-granddaughter, Faith Ann Henkes died. Faith was the baby of Iva's grandson Daryl and his wife Beth (Schutte) Henkes.
