Mrs. Hazel Palmer McLane died at her home here in Elkader January 9th, 1932. Deceased was born here in Elkader December 1, 1885, the daughter of E.M. 'Archie' and Libbie Palmer. She attended the Elkader public schools and on June 4, 1905 was married in Littleport to L.F. McLane. Three children were born to this union, two of them preceding the mother in death.
For a number of years before her marriage Mrs. McLane taught in the rural schools of the county. Most of her married life was spent in Strawberry Point, altho the McLanes spent a year and one-half in Missouri and since last September first they have been residents of Elkader.
Mrs. McLane is survived by her husband, five brothers and one sister. The brothers are Ross Palmer, Dixon, Ill., Ted and Glen Palmer, Fenton, Mich., Hollis Palmer, Standard, Arizona and Harold Palmer at Janesville, Wis. Mrs. Wm. Dunn is the only surviving sister and she resides in Dubuque.
A double funeral was held for Mrs. McLane and her daughter in the late home Monday afternoon after which the bodies were taken to the Methodist church in Strawberry Point for services.
Interment was made in the Noble cemetery three and one-half miles east of Strawberry Point. The Rev. T.J. Elwick of Strawberry Point officiated. Six friends of the McLane family were casket bearers for Mrs. McLane. They were Claude Firman, H.L. Meyer, H.G. Campbell, E.W. Hahn, H. Esch and Don Courtnage.
