Funeral services for Frank Nugent were held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock in St. Joseph's church, the Reverend B. H. Skahill officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery. He had been afflicted with bronchial asthma and heart trouble for many years. A recent attack of the flu aggravated those conditions and caused his death early Monday morning.

He specialized in the raising of Purebred Hereford cattle, and was also a feeder and shipper. He helped organize the Elkader Commission Co. (now the Elkader Co-op. Co.) of which he was a director for many years and he was an early member of Farm Bureau, a believer in soil conservation, rotation of crops and weed control. His hobbies were hunting and fishing.
Ill health forced him to retire in 1922 when he moved to his present home in South Elkader, purchased two years previously. In retirement he spent much time gardening.
He was a member of the Fifty-Year club of the Catholic order of Foresters and a former social member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was never married.

Pallbearers were Fred Seybert, Norbert Niemeyer, Harley Downey, Mike Garaghty, Nick Finnegan, and Harold Frick.
