Oelwein Daily Register, 6 April 1967.

Daniel Raftis, 83, died Tuesday evening, April 4, at Mercy Hospital, Oelwein. He was a long-time resident of the area.

Services will be Saturday, April 8, 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart church, with the Rev. Duane Raftis officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Elkader. Hintz Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

A parish rosary will be recited at the Hintz Chapel on Friday. A Knights of Columbus rosary at 8:30 p.m.

Survivors include his wife, Anna: one son, Irving, Oelwein; one daughter, Mrs. Arnold Barrer, Oelwein; three grandchildren; two brothers, Pat, Oelwein, and Edward, Wadena.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 12 noon, Thursday.

Note: Daniel and Anna (Dunn) Raftis, and their sons Irving and Daniel James Raftis Jr., are all buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Elkader. Anna was born in Clayton County, and this Raftis family had lived at Elkader prior to a move to Fayette County.
