Funeral services will be Wednesday for Mrs. Anna Raftis, a long time Oelwein resident, who died early Sunday morning at Mercy hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart church with the Rev. Duane Raftis officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery at Elkader. The body is at the Hintz Funeral Home where the parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Catholic Daughters of America will say the rosary at 3 p.m.
American Legion auxiliary members will hold memorial services for Mrs. Raftis at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Hintz Funeral Home.
Mrs. Raftis, a member and past officer of Local Court St. Rita 321, CDA, had been awarded a prize at the mother-daughter banquet for being the oldest member present. She was 86.
Mrs. Raftis is survived by her son, Irving; a daughter, Mary Margaret, Mrs. Arnold Barrer; a sister, Mrs. Harry (Mae) Friend; and three grandchildren, all of Oelwein. Her husband, the late Dan Raftis, had been an Oelwein real estate and insurance man.
Mrs. Raftis was born July 19, 1882, in Clayton county, the daughter of James and Mary McCarthy Dunn. She had lived in Oelwein for the past 33 years.

NOTE: Her husband's proper name is Daniel James Raftis. She and her husband along with sons Daniel James Raftis Jr. and Irving F. Raftis are all buried in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Elkader.
