August Huckstadt was born April 26, 1872, son of Mr and Mrs Fritz Huckstadt, nee Wendt, in Passow, Provence Pommern, Germany,and died March 3rd in Farmersburg.
His brother Wilhelm emigrated to America and a short time later his parents followed with their children. After their landing at New York, they took their way to Clayton and from there they went to the farm of Wilhelm Huckstadt,where they found their first shelter.
March 10,1899, the deceased married Minna Ihde. Four children were given to this union.
August 12, 1904, death took away the caring Mother from the Father and his children.
Last year the oldest of the four sons followed the mother in death.
During the last time the deceased was suffering from diabetes,which,connected with a cold, led to his sudden end.
His whole lifetime was 59 years,ten months,and six days. Those mourning are his 3 sons Fritz, married to Silvie Sawvell; John, who lived with his father; Wilhelm married to Catharine Reardon; two grandchildren and his three brothers: Wilhelm Huckstadt,Read township; Albert Huckstadt, Farmersburg and Heinrich Huckstadt, Farmersburg.
Funeral services were held at the house and in St. John's Lutheran Church, Farmersburg, on Saturday,March 5th, interment was made in the city cemetary in Farmersburg, the Rev. B.F. Korte, of Clayton Center officiating.Found in the Clayton County Register, March 10, 1932
