Monona Woman Burned To Death.
An 85 year-old Monona woman burned to death at her home yesterday, apparently the victim of a fire which started when a head-shawl she was wearing caught fire from a half-open stove lid.
Her son, who had left Mrs. Anna Berns at 10:30 a.m., to go to the post-office, discovered his mother at 11:00 a.m., when he returned.
Sheriff Forrest Fisher said today he was called when her son found a passageway leading to the cellar on fire. Later, he saw his mother huddled in a heap at the foot of the stairs.
Sheriff Fisher said Berns told him his mother was beginning to prepare lunch when he left for the post-office.
