Garnavillo-- Christopher Charles Bauer, 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 1996, in Guttenberg Municipal Hospital after a brief illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday, St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home, Garnavillo, where a wake service begins at 3 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Rose; two sons, Ronald and Morris, both of Garnavillo; a daughter, Jannan Bauer of Garnavillo; two brothers, Louis of Garnavillo and Walter of Guttenberg; and a sister, Marie Bauer of Guttenberg.

Funeral Services for Christopher Charles Bauer, 80, were held Friday, Feb. 2, 1996, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Garnavillo. Father Richard Gaul officiated the service with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Ertz, Steve Parker, Lee Stroschein, Carolyn Koopman, Shirley Peterman and Micki Stoffel.
Christopher Charles Bauer was born January 23, 1916, on a farm near Garnavillo, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Carrie (Schaub) Bauer. He attended the Bowden country school just a mile from where he grew up. He farmed with his wife and family. He was a custodian and grave digger for St. Joseph Cemetery since 1967 and the Garnavillo City Cemetery since 1969. On January 7, 1941, he was united in marriage with Rose Hilderbrand at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Garnavillo. Christopher Charles Bauer died January 30, 1996, at the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital following a brief illness.
Survivors include his wife Rose; two sons, Ronald Bauer of Garnavillo and Morris and his wife Marcee Bauer of Garnavillo; one daughter, Jannan Bauer of Garnavillo; two brothers, Louis and his wife Arlene Bauer of Garnavillo and Walter Bauer of Guttenberg; and one sister, Marie Bauer of Guttenberg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Hubert.
