Garnavillo-- Loraine F. "Mac" McLane, 78, died Wednesday, Jan 19, 2000, in the Guttenberg Care Center after a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, St. Joseph Catholic Church, by Father Richard Gaul. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery, with military honors. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home on Watson Street, Garnavillo.
Survivors include his wife, Claudine; four children, a daughter, Cheryll (Bob) Jones of Bloomfield, and three sons, Michael of New Salem, Wis., Pat (Donna) of Eatonville, Wash., and Jim (Cathy) of Garnavillo; seven stepchildren, Virginette (Cyril) Frommelt, LuAnn Bries, and Elaine Bries, all of Guttenberg, Darlene Frommelt of New Vienna, Don (Shirley) Goedken of Iowa City, Marcia (Lonnie) Roys of Elkader and Joanne (Dennis) Kuehl of Garnavillo; 33 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Stanley (Betty) McLane of Dyersville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Clarissa; two brothers, Jerome and Kenneth; a stepson-in-law, Louis Frommelt; and a granddaughter, Teresa Roys.
Loraine F. McLane was born Sept. 2, 1921, on the family farm near Garber, Iowa, the son of James and Margaret Meyer McLane. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy, and worked with the government as Garnavillo postmaster from 1961 to 1982. "Mac" enjoyed family and friends, playing cards and was an avid golfer. On Nov. 6, 1971, he was united in marriage with Claudine Berns Goedken at St. Joseph Church in Key West.
