Harold Darnall Chapman, the youngest son of Alice and James Chapman, was born at West Union, July 14, 1906. He grew to young manhood in West Union and in 1931 was married to Marcella (Name blurred but looks like Forey.). They made their home in Cedar Rapids and Marion for several years and after World War II they moved to Strawberry Point, where he has worked as steam fitter and plumber, being employed part time at Arlington.
About six weeks ago he was stricken with a heart attack and was taken to the Veterans Hospital at Iowa City, where he passed away August 28.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Lt. Gerald Chapman of San Antonio, Texas; and four daughters, Mrs. Frank Cannon of Havana, Ill., and Jackie, Judy and Sharon at home. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Alice Chapman, one sister, Mrs. Finton Bronn and one brother, P. J. Chapman, all of Arlington.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 31, at St. Mary's Church of Strawberry Point.
Casket bearers were Richard Fitzpatrick, Marcus Fitzpatrick, Lloyd Seedorff, Reynold Busse, John Sprang of Strawberry Point, and J, Leslie Cline of West Union.
Interment was at St. Mary's cemetery.
