Colesburg-- Ida Mae Behrend, 72, of rural Colesburg, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, in the Guttenberg Municipal Hospital from complications of metastasis of bladder cancer. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Guttenberg. Burial: Friedlein Cemetery, near Millville. Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Ida Mae was born Oct. 31, 1927, near Luana, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Roma Bittner Heins. She received her education in the Luana area country schools. She was married to Francis Behrend on Sept. 24, 1947, in Postville.

Survivors include her husband, Francis; a daughter, Patricia (Walter) Loukota of Cedar Rapids; a son, Bob of Manchester; two grandchildren, Ryan and Kristen Loukota; eight sisters, Violet (Leo) McNally of Monona, Roma (Freddie) Lahrs of Clayton Center, Hazel (Harold) Anderegg, Betty ((Henry) Geick and Gerene (William) Morarend, all of Guttenberg, LaVonne (Glen) Mueller of Elkader and Shirley (William) Sutton and Marie (Richard) Duwe, both of Garnavillo; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Birdena Behrend; and a brother, Cyril Heins.
